  • Calculating the efficiency considering on-state voltage drops in switch-ladder multilevel inverter
    Ehsan Esfandiari Page 1
In this paper, the effect of on-state voltage drop of switches on the efficiency of a staircase-output switch-ladder multilevel inverter is analyzed and efficiency equations are extracted. Analyses are done based on equivalent circuit of inverter with p-n junction and MOSFET switches. Equations show the relation between the efficiency and number of levels, on-state voltage drop of p-n junction switches, on-state resistance of MOSFETS, peak of the output voltage and load.
  • Matrix Converter Technology for Clean Power Output in Direct AC to AC Converter System
Mahendran Nagalingam, G. Gurusamy Page 2
Clean power development in power electronic system is an emerging area of research in Electrical Engineering. Most of the power electronic system introduces harmonics in power system. Elimination of harmonic is a tedious process. Different control strategy should be developed to reduce the harmonic. In Rectifier fed Inverter system has many disadvantages because of DC link filter. Matrix converter avoids this DC link filter and output approaches clean power. In this paper we have simulated Single phase Matrix Converter. Simulation using Matlab and Real Time implementation using PIC89C51 validated its originality. Finally we have compared different values of Harmonics.
  • Modeling and simulation of five level invertor based UPFC system
    S. Muthkrishnan, A. Nirmalkumae Page 3
This paper with digital simulation of power system using five level inverter based UPFC to improve the power quality. The UPFC is capable of improving transient stability in a power system. It is the most complex power electronic system for controlling the power flow in an electrical power system. The real and reactive powers can be easily controlled in a power system with a UPFC. The circuit model is developed for UPFC using rectifier and inverter circuits.. The control angle of the converters is varied to vary the real and reactive powers at the receiving end. The matlab simulation results are presented to validate the model.
  • Design And Impementation Of A Single-Phase, Grid-Connected Inverter Using Hysterisis Current Control Method Developed For Solar System Application
    Yousef Sadeghi Page 4
There are two different schemes implemented for using a solar system i.e. non grid-connected and grid-connected. In the second system, it is essential that the extracted voltage from solar cells changes from DC into AC voltage. This inverting procedure can be executed in various methods that one of them is Hysteresis Current Control. This way a 3 kW Inverter Using Hysteresis Current Control was designed and tested. This inverter comprises several main parts i.e. MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking), full bridge DC-DC Converter and full bridge DC-AC Inverter. The prime features of this scheme are involved in using full-bridge DC-DC converter via 50 kHz hardware frequency switching by 25 kHz frequency, low-volume ferrous core of transformer, low cost and hardware design of Dead Time Controller.
  • Congestion Management Role in Optimal Bidding Strategy using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm
Mohsen Khalilpour, Navid Razmjooy Page 5
The privatization and deregulation of electricity markets has increased competition and electricity may be produced and consumed in amounts that would cause the transmission system to operate beyond transfer limits - the system is congested. Hence, congestion management is a fundamental transmission management problem. In this paper, binding strategy based on load demand and generating power apprises of different units in the investigated system by using optimizing process is modeled. Afterwards, congestion effect in this biding strategy is scrutinized. The described system analysis is implemented on 5 bus system and optimizing technique in this issue is the Imperialist competitive algorithm and the results are compared by GA. Finally, examine system is simulated by using the Power World software; results show that the proposed technique has a proper performance for the congestion management purposes.
  • Digital Simulation of 0.5KVA Current injection type Single Phase Shunt active power filter
    V.V. Subrahmanya Kumar Page 6
This paper deals with the digital simulation of 0.5KVA single phase shunt active filter by using Microsim software. This paper focuses theoretical topics on single phase shunt active power filter (SSAPF) system, covers operation principle, current injection, structure of main circuit, control of the DC voltage and compensating current. The overall system has been modeled using MICROSIM and simulation results have shown that the circuit is reasonable.
